About the Event
ABOUT THE VENUE Come celebrate the great outdoors and enjoy the trails of North Texas on the Greenbelt of Denton County and Ray Roberts Lake State Park in Aubrey, Texas! The Lake Ray Roberts Equestrian Trails Association Fall Trail Challenge will be held just below the dam at the Elm Fork Trail Head at beautiful Ray Roberts Lake State Park. Dry camping will be permitted in the field. Generators will be allowed. You will need containment for your horses and pens. There is access to water and a bathroom (no shower) at the trailhead. As with all horse events, current Coggins is required.
This event is hosted by the Lake Ray Roberts Equestrian Trail Association (LRRETA) which is a group of enthusiastic. dedicated equestrians whose mission is to preserve and enhance the trails of the Greenbelt and Lake Ray Roberts. LRRETA is a part of the Greenbelt Alliance of Denton County. The Greenbelt Alliance of Denton County is a non-profit 501(c)3 community-based, a volunteer organization that fosters awareness of the recreational and educational opportunities; and encourages the preservation of the Greenbelt in its present, scenic, natural state for the benefit of all.
The Fall Trail Challenge is to raise matching funds for a new TPWD Recreational trail grant.

EVENT DETAILS
Saturday:
Obstacle Course (OC) – a mounted event in an arena/field. A saddle (treeless included) and headstall with reins are required. All riding disciplines are welcome.
Trail Challenge (TC) – a relaxing trail ride with judged obstacles along the trail and possibly in camp. All riding disciplines are welcome.
Sunday:

THE TERRAIN Trails are shaded and there is water at each of the trailheads. The trail route is linear and well-marked. The shaded trail going south is mainly sandy and black dirt and slightly rolling. The shaded trail going north is sandy with some rocky areas with more elevation and technical. The north trail includes a tunnel under FM 455.
MEALS Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday will be continental and provided by LRRETA.
Lunch on Saturday and Sunday will be build-your-own sandwiches, chips, and drinks for $10.
Saturday night potluck. LRRETA will provide meat and paper products (plates, napkins, utensils. Please bring your chair, your drink and a dish to share.
AWARDS Beautiful ribbons - 1st-6th place Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced! 1st-3rd place Junior (age 13-17), 1st-3rd place Youngin' (age 7-12), and 1st place Newcomer.
Lifetime Awards (Equine & Rider) - Sign up 2 weeks in advance to get your qualifying awards!
Equine Awards - Your equine will earn a beautiful kilt pin adding copper, bronze, silver, and golden carrot charms as they progress through the levels. Equine points accumulate no matter who rides the equine.
Rider Awards - You will earn a beautiful kilt pin adding copper, bronze, silver, and golden star charms as you progress through the levels. Rider Points accumulate no matter which equine is ridden.
ADDITIONAL FEES Payment for ALL Amenities reserved at the time of online registration are due ONSITE and are NOT collected at the time of online registration.
EVENT DIRECTIONS If you are camping or driving directly to the event, please note that is on the south side of FM 455 and south of the Lake Ray Roberts Dam on the Lake Ray Roberts Dam Road.
If you are camping at Lake Ray Roberts, Isle Du Bois, Little Blue Stem Equestrian Camping area, it located approximately 3 miles from the Elm Fork Trailhead on the north side of FM 455.
Registering online will give you the best (early bird) pricing! There is a $10 increase per entry for onsite registration. If you do not have a pass for the state park, a $7 fee at entry will need to be paid.
